The clutch on my Audi is really old. I need to replace it but i want to know how much it costs. one mechanic told me about $1200, is that reasonable? I would like to know if anyone has ever changed the clutch on their Audi. How much did it cost you?
Would it be cheaper to buy the piece separately, then just have a mechanic put it in?

That is reasonable, consider the fact that the transmission has to be removed from the engine. However, you could purchase the clutch kit to save on parts. It's the labor that bites the wallet.
